The project involves the preservation and revitalisation of 1,500 hectares of existing open space in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.

There will be dedicated picnic areas, heritage buildings, walking and cycling trails, nature play space and 200 hectares of native revegetation for community enjoyment.

A number of historically important areas and buildings will be reserved for future generations.

Key highlights include:

  • new metropolitan national park
  • physical and digital interpretation to help visitors connect with the park’s rich historical and cultural heritage
  • a new trail network including accessible trails
  • nature play space
  • $12.5 million state government investment.
