$21.1 million has been invested into preventative maintenance and upgrade works to approximately 490 pre-1968 Housing SA properties.
The first $10 million will be spent on upgrading 198 flats within three large ageing public housing unit blocks located in Gilberton, Henley Beach South, and Hawthorn.
Improvements will include kitchen upgrades, internalising laundries, general maintenance, safe removal of asbestos roofing, safety improvements in public areas such as improved lighting and landscaping.

$10.55 million has been allocated to the upgrade of 198 (pre-1968) flats, and $10.55 million for preventative maintenance and upgrade to 290 single dwelling homes across Metropolitan Adelaide and Kangaroo Island.
Capital maintenance works are undertaken by a number of Multi-Trade Contractors engaged by the SA Housing Authority under the multi-year arrangement.
Works for these programs are determined on a priority basis according to asset condition.
