Playford Alive is one of Australia’s largest urban renewal projects. The project covers approximately 1,000 hectares including more than 500 hectares of new development. It aims to create a diverse, integrated and sustainable community whilst supporting skills training and economic growth.

Located just 30 kilometres north of Adelaide and 8 kilometres from Gawler, Playford Alive is a thriving community that enjoys the best of both worlds - being close to the CBD and at the gateway to the Barossa Valley.

The Playford Alive urban development project is establishing a new community with a diverse mix of housing options, a new Town Centre and a broad range of commercial facilities and services, new schools, state-of-the-art parks and recreation spaces, and easy access to transport. On completion, around 40,000 people will call Playford Alive home.

The project is a joint initiative between Renewal SA, South Australian Housing Authority and City of Playford delivering:

  • Greenfield development at Munno Para comprising 1790 residential allotments and associated commercial/retail services.
  • Renewal of the Peachey Belt (Smithfield Plains and Davoren Park) to provide new residential allotments and renewed social and private housing.

2005/6
