The project will provide a larger, purpose built ambulance station built in an optimal location within the City of Port Augusta to ensure South Australian Ambulance Service (SAAS) can maintain safe, effective service delivery functionality into the future. A new station will be the ‘Hub for the Flinders, Far North & Upper Spencer Gulf’ providing an opportunity to expand Community Paramedicine services including in Indigenous communities.

The construction of a new Ambulance Station is needed to support current service delivery and will provide flexibility to cater for future changes such as increased workload demand.

The sourcing of a suitable land parcel along the main route through Port Augusta is required as part of this project. The location must allow for egress to the south and to the north into Port Augusta residential areas.

With the duplication of the Joy Baluch Bridge, access will be afforded to the West side straight down Victoria Parade.

From a profile perspective it is on the main route through Port Augusta creating opportunities for a dynamic design and /or artwork to be incorporated.

This project is expected to support approximately 20 full-time equivalent jobs per year, over the life of the project.
